A Study in Post-Modern Relationships

marinich:

You are in love with an old friend. Her wall is populated by comments from a girl you’ve never met who professes her undying love. One day your friend is in a relationship with this girl and she has proclaimed herself a lesbian. The next day this relationship ends and the lesbianism is revoked. Every night before you go to bed, instead of saying prayers, you wonder what this girl looks like and if there was a make-out session.

At a party you meet a girl and discuss Shakespeare with her. The next day you find an audiobook of Rosencranz & Guildenstern Are Dead and post the link on her blog. Your comment is not approved. She never writes to you. Wordpress sends you an email whenever somebody new comments on her blog.

A beautiful blonde woman friends you on MySpace. You accept and, unsure of when you met or if you met, ask her how she is doing. She tells you she enjoys the feel of thick cock ripping through her. You don’t know how thick a cock she means. You don’t know if she would approve of yours. You say nothing. A month later you move to unfriend her, only to find she unfriended you first.

You are sent a friend request by a girl you used to know. She used to like you. You reject her. The next day a friend of yours is tagged in a picture with her. She has looks stunning. You send her a friend request. For a week you run a search for her name to see if she has accepted. Then you run a search for her name and no results come up.

For a semester you try to figure out how to surreptitiously obtain the cell phone numbers of the people in your class, how best to send a message asking the tall foreign girl if she really has been staring at you or if she’s just been staring at you to determine if you’ve been staring at her.

Oh, right, so you’ve been watching.
